Demons & Daggers

petitepoetry Posted by petitepoetry at 07:55 PM on September 08, 2009

There was something always stabbing me in the back,

I tried so long to find what my personal dagger was,

But every time I turned around to find it,

I found myself two steps from where I'd been,

And a thousand miles from you.

The sharp points always found me at my worst,

And paranoia of the pain teased from the corners of my mind,

But just now the pain is a memory,

And just now, the daggers of my memmory have faded like last night's nightmare,

Just now, my pain has been eased by the warmth of your embrace,

But whn you finally let me go,

Such different demons haunt me,

THe crafters of doubt, of fear, and of pure heartbreake become my tormentors,

The pure light and warmth that the merest htought of you brings,

Sends them fleeing back into the dark corners of past and pain,

The light your smile brings me blinds the doubts, and fear of heartbrake,

Though scattered they are not banished from me, for only your touch can do that,

Though blinded, they are not senseless for still they find grip in the space that seperates us,

And though it may be these demons and daggers that tear my spirit,

They can find no grip in the purity of the love you give.

From yoru touch, to your embrace, to your very kiss,

You banish such shadowed thoughts now, with only one look into my eyes,

Until now... I could find no logic to love or trust,

THen you showed me there is no logic to it,

THere is only a desire to be your best, and to give all of the love you posses.

And now, after so long of knowing you and loving you,

I know my demons and daggers can't return,

Because, when I gave you my heart,

I also gave you the sheaths to the hurts of my past,

And the bonds that hold back the demons that would come between us.

Now you hold my hand,

You hold my past,

You hold my future,

You hold my spirit,

And you hold my complete and devoted love.
