Searing Pain
Tears drip from her saddened eyes as she sees the newest bruises,
Blue, Purple and Black speckles her body,
All she wants is love, but all he gives is pain,
Her body is wracked with torments she cannot ignore,
She cries out in the night for someone, anyone, to save her.
A light shines in the darkness, but her blackened eyes do not see,
A voice like that of a trumpet calls out, but her shattered ears do not hear,
The gentle touch of an angel brushes her shoulder, but she does not feel it past the pain,
He reaches out for His shattered child, but all she does is cower from Him,
She cries out for her savior, but refuses his healing touch.
Another night goes by, and she takes the beating without a sound,
Her hope is gone, this life can hold nothing for her but pain,
The tears slip past her closed eyes once more, but not for the pain of her flesh,
She cries because he never came, they said he would always be there, but he wasn?t,
Her body screams as she rolls over on the floor, and consciousness pushes her into the dark.
She cant take it anymore, she is utterly defeated in every way,
As she watches his hand descend on her face once more, she prays this is the end,
The crack resounds in the small room as she crumples to the floor,
His voice is damning her to this perilous existence, he tells her she will never escape, never live,
Even in death his voice would torment her.
The smell of whiskey on his breath, warns her that it will be worse this time than the rest,
He shatters her arm as she holds it up, her very last defense,
Her voice tears through the night in pain, will it never go away,
Her heart breaks as she tries to hold it in, how could she had ever loved him?
This is the last time, he wont do it again...
A light shines in the darkness, and finally she sees,
A voice like that of a trumpet calls out, and finally she hears,
The gentle touch of an angel brushes her shoulder, and she feels it despite her pain,
He reaches out for His shattered child, and she finally allows His embrace,
She cries out for her savior, and finally her pain disappears.
