The Fall

How many times have I said it now,

“You don’t know me, you can’t ever understand, ”

At least a hundred times I know,

But when I look back, hindsight seems so clear,

Was it your fault or mine, when we started to drift away,

Who was it that said, “Not this weekend, I’m busy, ”

When did grades and guys become more important,

Was it me, or was it you…

When you gave up, and stopped fighting for your friends,

Did I ever back down in my attempts to get you back,

When you fell, only to find no one to help you up,

Was I not still there, reaching for your hand,

But who will be there when I fall to my knees in pain,

Who will smile and make the world brighter,

Who will fight to win me back, as I have fought for you,

Will you be there when I need you,

Or will you let me fall?
